Professional identity and attributes of professionalism are acquired during the professional education process. Multiple methods for teaching professionalism may be incorporated into curricula for medical laboratory science professionals, including mentoring, reflection papers, and specific communication skills required to work in interprofessional teams. The acquisition of professionalism concepts is critical for novices to become fully functioning medical laboratory professionals.
